Welcome to our Troop 555 website

Welcome Message

We meet most Monday nights from 7:00-8:00 p.m.  Location: Abiding Love Lutheran Church at 7210 Brush Country Dr. Austin, Texas 78749. Our meetings are held in the activity center, which is at the southeast corner of the church, near the intersection of Brush Country and Convict Hill.

Weekly meetings have a specific focus (determined by Patrol Leaders) and will include things like rank advancement, merit badge night, campout planning, game night, and Court of Honor.

Troop 555's Mission

Troop 555 "The Triple Nickel" is a boy-led troop focused on preparing young men to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Our Boy Scout troop is a small democracy. With the Scoutmaster's direction, the boys are formed into patrols, plan the troop's program, and make it a reality.

Camping

Troop 555 typically camps once a month throughout the year (Friday & Saturday nights) and also attends a weeklong summer camp in June. As Scouts get older (13/14 years old), there are additional opportunities for them to attend high adventure camps like Philmont (New Mexico), Northern Tier (Minnesota), Sea Base (Florida), and The Summit (West Virginia). We had crews attend Sea Base and Philmont in 2024.

Expenses

Webelos crossing over into Troop 555 pay a one-time fee of $50.  This fee goes toward new Scout supplies (e.g. handbook, neckerchief, neckerchief slide, Troop 555 patch, shoulder loops, etc.).  Annual Troop registration is $130 per year in the fall.  Additional expenses Scouts may incur include food expenses for weekend campouts and registration fees for summer camps.  Scouts have an opportunity to raise funds to offset fees for troop activities by selling tickets to the Troop’s annual pancake supper in February and yearly mulch fundraiser.

Rank Advancement

Boy Scouting is a boy led program.  Rank advancement is self-paced by each Scout (including for many the goal of Eagle).  Since its inception in 1990, Troop 555 has had 68 Scouts reach the rank of Eagle Scout, including 3 young men in the past year.
